Our History
In May 1993, 39 individuals from Loma Linda Filipino SDA Church(LLFC) and Moreno Valley SDA Church, combined, were gathered to comprise the charter group of Moreno Hills SDA Church. It was ably led by Pastor Florante Yulip, then coordinator for evangelistic programs of LLFC.
These pioneers met for worship in the homes of Asher and Mira Reyes, and of Dr. Jaime and Mrs. Luz Arcilla. But in June of 1994, a conditional use permit was required from them by the City. In the transition, they resumed their assembly at the home of Michael and Chiqui Dela Cruz.
In June 14, 1995, the group purchased a 2.18-acre premises located at 14390 Oliver Street. They started transforming a building into a sanctuary. But in January 2000, the City required them to submit a conditional use permit if interested to convert the building into a church. The group engaged in a prayerful discussion on whether to build there a modest-size church building or to sell it in order to purchase a bigger land away from a flood zone. They voted for the latter option. Fifteen days later, that property was sold. (A 3.01-acre barren land was purchased in November 20, 2001.)
Starting on the first Sabbath of February 2000, the group experienced moving around again— Grace Episcopal Church, for five years and nine months; Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, for two years and three months; Moreno Valley SDA Church, for two years; and Lord of Life Lutheran Church, for five years.
In January of 2008, God allowed the purchase of the 1.8-acre lot (the current location). It had a building structure for newspaper distribution. A simple ground-breaking worship was held in September 25, 2010, 12:15 p.m. Thirty-two days later, in October 27, 2010, the building was demolished with the intent to put up a tabernacle, an entry hall, and a multipurpose building.
The current place has been the ninth location for this group’s worship and ministries. The first worship gathering was held on Sabbath afternoon of January 23, 2016.
